From the soul of the Nile River in Egypt and throughout the Silk Route
from Central Asia around the Mediterranean, Middle Eastern dance has
many different forms.
Laila believes that by knowing the folkloric roots from
which the modern belly dance has evolved, a dancer strengthens her
understanding of the music and culture, giving a richness to the cabaret or
oryantal show.
Laila's repertoire includes the popular Egyptian cabaret
(modern Egyptian belly dance), Saiidi cane dance, zaffah (the wedding
march)
, Turkish Oryantal (modern Turkish belly dance), ciftetelli,
karshilama, Balkan fusion, Greek Bellydance, Romany
(Gypsy), Cocek, and
line dancing from Greece, Macedonia, Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon and the Gulf
Region, as well as Persian Classical and Persian Bandari.
Vivacious, charming and soulful . . .
